Finding My Educational Philosophy
I am on a quest to create a better society
Teaching is a lifestyle
Allow trust and care to build a mutually respectful environment
Do more than memorize
Do not hold rigidly to preconceptions
It can be inelegant
Academic perspectives vary widely
But education should focus on the whole child
Common core meets student’s interests
Be active, not passive
Students want shelter
Multilingual students need a vehicle for social change
Encourage exploration and a student-centered classroom
Address social questions and test ideas
Minimize inequality
Teach ideas that are everlasting
